The 2026 Global High-Level Think Tank Forum for Science and Technology Innovation opened in Beijing on March 27, focusing on the integration of technology and industries.
The forum, a parallel event of the Zhongguancun Forum (ZGC Forum), brought together more than 400 participants from think tanks, research institutions and industry sectors worldwide.
The event featured a signing ceremony for 13 new member institutions to the ZGC Global High-Level Think Tank Alliance, bringing its total to 102 think tanks across 19 countries and regions.
Several research reports were released at the forum, including Innovation for Enhanced Resilience and Sustainability Along the Belt & Road Initiative, Annual Report on Beijing International Cooperation for Science and Technology Development (2025), and 48 outstanding projects from the alliance's 2025 program.
During the keynote speeches, experts from countries including China, the United States, France and Italy shared their insights on topics such as quantum information technology, global talent system restructuring, embodied intelligence and clean energy.
Feng Chujian, vice president of the Chinese Academy of Science and Technology for Development, said the forum reflected three key features: a focus on exploring new pathways for integration, a commitment to fostering international consensus, and a results-oriented approach that produced tangible outcomes.
Feng also expressed hope that participants would build on the momentum of the forum to deepen exchanges and cooperation, contributing to high-quality regional development, national strategies and a mutually beneficial global innovation ecosystem.
The forum was jointly hosted by China's Ministry of Science and Technology and the Beijing Municipal People's Government and co-organized by the Beijing Academy of Science and Technology and other institutions.
